The avTool from avAcademia is a unique tool to support your efforts in creating a professional plan. Over 2'000 multimedia devices such as front- and rear-projection, LCD-projectors and large-scale TV’s are available from our database.

With the exclusive avTool you can create a professional plan within minutes. No matter if you’re using front- or rear-projection, LCD-projectors or even a large-scale TV’s. The result of your planning work is a fully detailed high quality PDF-document for you and your customers.

You can present your result from a sketch point of view or side view. With the build-in 3D-viewer you can dynamically present your project (room & projections devices) from any angle. Let the avTool convince you – try it out.

Version and selection of devices

Only the current and most recent version release of our software is available to you.

Depending on the entry page or on your registration you may be able to use variable features.

If you register your new account on a page sponsored by a specific manufacturer, only the devices of this company are available for your projects.

The workplace

On your 5-part workplace you can use the features of the avTool intuitively and effiently.

Registration (new account)

To use the avTools a registration on the tool's website is neccessary. To create a new accout you must fill out the following fields:

  • a valid email-address;
  • a password;
  • your title (mr/mrs);
  • your first name and
  • your last name.

By registring you accept our usage and privacy policies. We will keep all your data confidentially and protect your projects against unauthorised access by other users. The project date will be stored secure and encrypted.

To log in after the registration you only need your email-address and password.

Create a new project

You must use a unique project name. Unique means, that you can use this name only once within your registration.

All other fields are optional. Your should however fill them out if you wish this information to apperar on the printout of your PDF-files.

Project overview

In the overview you can see a list of all your stored projects.

  • Edit
    allows you to edit the descriptive data of your project;
  • Delete
    to delete the whole project;
  • avTool
    to start the avTool.

avTool – Room

You have define and save a room before you can place any visualisation objects in your project.

To accept the default values for layout, size and height you can simply click on [Continue] to go the the next step. The definition of the room can so be finished in some seconds.
The info for doors, windows and platforms are optional.

But you can also provide the exact room form and size of your project and create an optimized representation for your customer.

when the room is saved, you can continue directly to add visualisation objects (projectors, displays).

Advice:

  • A room must be defined and saved in a single session;
  • A saved room annot be changed any more.

avTool – visualisation objects

The visualisation (of projectors and/or displays) is done with our action-T. The action-T allows you to position your objects (projectors or displays) freely. It provides the following information.

action-T

Add / Delete

Add new projections or delete existing ones.

You can add several projections (we recommend a maximum of 5).

Each projection (action-T) is identified by a number.

Projektion type / Display

Define the type of the projections.

  • Front projektion
  • Rear projektion
  • Display
  • no Hardware (the actions-T is only used as view-axis)

Device type

Select the device type.

For projectors:

  • Video projector
  • Overhead projector

For displays:

  • Plasma
  • LCD
  • SED

[Continue]

Device

Select the device from the list.

Depending on the site you registered on to use the tool, you may have only a limited choice.

  • Brand
  • Projector/Display
  • Lens (for projectors only)

[Continue]

Settings

Select the different elements within the views (ground, side or image view) with a mouse click to change it's settings.

Please observe:
All gauges are +/- 5%!

Ground view and click on action-T:

  • X
  • Y
  • Z
  • Rotation (Angle in degree)
    the angle can be modified with +/- degree values.
  • Observer area on/off
  • Observer VPMin (default = 1.5)
  • Observer VPMax (default = 6)

Ground view and click on projektor / display:

  • You see the fixed values of the device. Those values cannot be changed, but the device can be replaced.
  • If the device allows a horizontal shift, this is indicated by a black arrow. The device can be moved with the mouse.

Side view and click on action-T or device

  • The vertical position of the view axis can be moved with the mouse.
    The two lines present a vertical position of 80 and 120 cm.
  • The device can be moved with the mouse within the possible zoom area.

Image view and click on the screen or the device

  • Dimensions of the image.
  • If the projection device allows a vertical shift, this is indicated by a black arrow. The device can be moved with the mouse.

3D-view

The 3D-view can be freely rotated with the mouse. The current position is also represented on the generated PDF-documents.

Menu

[File]

  • Save
    Saves the current state of the project.
  • Generate PDF
    Generates a PDF-Documents showing the four views of the currently selected action-T.
    The right to generate PDF files may depend on your registration settings.
  • Exit
    Closes the avToolafter a confirmation window and returns to the project overview.

[Options]

  • Show / Hide room gauges
  • Show / Hide rulers
    Shows a ruler in ground, side and image view. This ruler can be uses as a gauge in PDF-documents.
  • Unit = cm
  • Unit = inch

[Details]

Moves the center of the workplace to display ony one of the four views.

  • Ground view
  • Side view
  • Image view
  • 3D-view
  • Centered
    Shows again all four views on the workplace.

Right mouse button (ground and side view)

  • Zoom – in
    Increases the size of the view from the current mouse position!
  • Zoom – out
    Reduces the size of the view from the current mouse position!
  • Zoom – 100%
  • Add gauge
  • Remove gauge

Tips:

  • Pressing the ctrl-key and the left mouse button a zoom rectangel opens.
  • Pressing ctrl-key and a double click brings you back to a zoom factor of 100%.
  • Pressing the shift-key enables you to draw rules in a 45° angle.
