Project management
Project management means, to put down a few thoughts on a sheet of paper before you begin a new installation.
Every project where more than two people are reaching for a success need a minimum of planing • of project management.
Act target oriented
Target oriented action and to keep expenditures and schedules in a tight grip: this is the qualification of a good project leader.
That's easy to be said, but often difficult to do. You may learn the technique. But a real project leader needs experience above all.
The more you plan, the preciser you projects get!
Planning (work preparation) is one of the most important basic skills of project management. But don't ever believe that a project will be approved just as planned. This is only true in the books, the reality looks quite different.
Objectives of project management
The direct objectives of a project depend on the nature of the project. But can always be differentiated.
The task objectives …
is to get the work done in the form requested. This is the main objective, because it describes the whole project as such. The project is defined as to fulfil a well defined task objective.
The cost objective …
indicates that a project shall be terminated without additional expenditures. This is also a target of primordial importance and shall include provisions for actions to be taken if the planned expenses are rising beyond the planned frame.
The schedule objective …
contains the planned point in time at which a project is bound to be finalised successfully. The significance of this objective is usually not only great, but determining for the success of the project. And finally …
The quality objective …
Today, this point gains more and more a proper, additional signification. Basically, a defined quality target shall always be reached. But it is often quite complicated to designate this quality objective in a formalised, measurable and controllable form.
Right, up to now you also had to do project management, but maybe you just called this task “organising”.
